Born Allan Wessel Jr. on November 20 1983 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. First born and older brother of two sisters (Kaitlyn and Carrie). The name Yates came when his mother re-married Ian Yates. With his step dad being in the RCMP, his family was required to move all over Canada. Even with all the moving Allan spent his youth like most young Canadian boys... on ice playing hockey with dreams of being in the NHL. After getting hurt he moved to back to where he was born to work in the ship yards of Halifax. It was during this time that he received a Friday night job on a Canadian political comedy titled "This Hour Has 22 Minutes". After spending nearly a year looking forward to his Friday night job he decided being involved in the entertainment industry was what he wanted to do.On thinking what part of the entertainment industry he was going to pursue a child hood memory kept creeping up. The first day he met his grandparents' new neighbor. Emmy award winning actor Richard Dysart from the TV show LA Law. Because of that relationship he decided to try acting first and enrolled himself in the 4 month acting essentials program at the Vancouver Film school. Before the first day was over he knew that acting was what he wanted to do with his life. After completing the acting program from VFS Allan moved to Calgary, Alberta to work in the oil industry to save up enough money to attend the New York Film Academy in Hollywood California. It was at this school that he learned the Meisner technique which he still studies to this day. Hide
