Wes Shafer is an independence baby, born on the 4th of July, at a Naval hospital, in San Diego CA. Raised by a single mother, Wendy Shafer, who was a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force, he was forced to attend many different schools. By sixth grade, he was on his fifth new school and trying to fit in with the new environment, he would be very vibrant to make new friends. Soon one of his teachers suggested to his mother that he audition for the local community theater. Reluctantly he went to the open casting and was picked up for a two month run as the lead hillbilly in a parody of The Wizard of Oz. After this experience, Wes was hooked and found refuge in drama classes at every new school he attended until graduating. After high school Wes decided to follow in his Grandfathers footsteps as a Naval Coroner and attend medical school. He attended Regis University, in Denver CO, but two years later he dropped out after loosing interest. After a short attempt at electrical engineering in San Diego, he decided to drop everything and follow his true passion in Los Angeles. With the sale of his motorcycle and three months of busing table, Wes paid for his first semester of acting school at The Lee Strasberg Institute. Here he met teachers and coaches he considers mentors to this day. While attending, he became very interested in his film fighting and stunt class. After showing promise and commitment, he was given the opportunity to work with Benny 'The Jet' Urquidez. This experience was his first taste of professional work and his dynamic of the industry became more focused.Without having any money left for rent, he waited tables and slept in his car behind the acting school to pay for classes. Once the creative director of the school found out he was sleeping in his car, the director told him he could not attend anymore classes until he was able to support himself and find an apartment. Devastated by the news, Wes followed his direction and the decision ended up being one of the best moves for him. After a little coach surfing, he found an apartment. He now had his foundation and started building his community. What followed was the start of his career. Booking commercials, Indie films and plays. Wes continuously studies his craft. Hide
