"Orphan 55" surely won't go down as the weakest episode of season 12, but neither will it be one of the best. The cast is too big and some flawed editing limits its impact, but at least it has its heart very much in the right place.

Sometimes it's okay to strip the show back and watch the Doctor and her friends try to outrun - and outsmart - some monsters.

That's "Orphan 55" in a nutshell: a workmanlike episode that's big on action but struggles to make us really care about the people who are in danger.
