The outline of the story could be interesting if it were simply slowed down a bit and balance the cheesy and the charming more in a way that 'Chuck' proved possible.

This is fantasy, of course, and there's a promising sense of self-reflection in the show's foundation.

Seriously, are there really that many things one can do with a cape without it actually having some sort of mystical powers?

This drama about a caped crusader (David Lyons) delivers more snickers than sizzle.

The Cape delivers...a thoroughly entertaining viewing experience, with solid action scenes, a terrific score and an intriguing plot paced so quickly, you'll feel as if you're watching a visual representation of a graphic novel.

Marked by logical elisions, word-balloon dialogue and conveniently located plot holes though it may be, this is a machine for putting its heroes in tight spaces and watching them kick their way free, and it does its work efficiently and with flair.

Cartoonish while also straining to be taken very seriously, NBC's big ticket mid-season series needs both a sedative and a sense of direction.

The Cape is never as gripping as it probably should be. The name of the hero is dumb, and the concept feels stale, combining drab crime drama elements with comic book genre fare.
