It's morgue-porn, but at least hints at a philosophical mystery.

This Haunting is so far from the original source material that it's more of a demolition than adaptation.

Like everything in Hill House, that terror gets muted, slowed down and picked over so much that it ends up banal and lifeless.

The childhood/adulthood flashbacks are as good as This Is Us, the horror better than Hereditary, the whole thing better than the similar Castle Rock and Sharp Objects.
