Description
Chandler and Miles investigate the slaughter of four people at a tailor's fortified workshop. Buchan, retained by Chandler as the team's historical adviser, believes that the huge archive at Whitechapel station will provide the necessary insight into the baffling crime, that appears to echo the Ratcliff Highway murders two-hundred years earlier. It was all credible stuff, mixing meat and drink detective show fare with a dash of psychological drama, but the necessary faster pace lacked the creeping tension of previous series.

Whitechapel has a big fault - its stories' endings never stack up and feel rushed - but it has the great virtue of being exquisitely well made.
